I would like to know what the secret is to keeping silkies alive. I swear if it wasn't for me saving them everyday from the mothership they stare up into the sky looking for to come get them. I've had them drown in an inch of water, one just keeled over and another managed to hang herself in the feeder. I've saved them from drowning in the rain, sleeping in planter boxes, roosting a foot off the ground outside the coop. I had one who try and sleep 6 feet from the coop door every night. I love the little buggers but I wish they weren't constantly trying to unalive themselves. 😵‍💫

The first 2 I had, didn't really have any feathers in their eyes. The third one I gave regular haircuts otherwise she would get stuck in the corner of the coop:rolleyes:😂
I never claimed to be a chicken groomer🤣

This isn't an answer to your problem but I find silkies to have a limited range of sight. And with chickens sight is very important to navigate around there environment. There is the option to trim back there feathers around there eyes. Makes them less prone for injuries.
Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I've ordered a few more. I'm thinking this time I will keep them in a padded cell.
