Hi, i have ducklings that i got yesterday through the mail. There were 5. 4 if which that look to be about 3 or 4 days old. They are thriving. Playing, eating, drinking, swimming. And one that looks a day old (they were shipped Tuesday, received Thursday, so i know it's the same age as the others. It's just so small) it's not eating or drinking. I've put electrolytes and probiotics in the water. I've tried sugar water. He won't drink anything. As a last resort, i just went and bought duck eggs to try and feed him the yolk and it won't touch it. Any suggestions. It just wants to sleep. I've tried just about everything i can research.

It might have hatched later than the others. It could still be absorbing its yolk. Is it acting normally?

I only guess it's age because i have just hatched my own ducks that are 5 days old, and the same size as the rest. So since they shipped Tuesday, and mine hatched Sunday given the size, they all look the exact same age. This One is just tiny. I know it's at least 4 days old. And no. Not acting like the rest. It just sits there and sleeps.

Oh, I hate when the littles are not doing well!

Do you have any Nutridrench? That stuff is awesome. Just a drop in its bill every hour or so. That and syringe feeding water to it. Just inside the bill.

Regarding this..
What I do with nitridrench it's just get a little drop on my finger or a q-tip and run down the side of the bill and let it kind of swallow it that way. Usually they will taste it and start kind of making a chewing motion and swallow some of it.
I don't like to recommend people put any drops inside the mouth because they can aspirate so easily.

I am hoping that aunt angus's suggestion is the right one and maybe it's just younger than the others and not really needing to eat and drink yet.
Look at its bottom and see if it's vent is clogged with poo. I'm wondering if it could have pasty butt I'm not sure where you were located but it is so hot here where I am it wouldn't be a stretch of imagination to think it may have gotten dehydrated on its way to you and developed pasty butt.

Good point. I find putting the dropper next to the bill achieves the same thing. Gets a drop to roll in there. I should have been more explicit. Thank you!
