So, this question is going to sound very weird

Do ducks like eating snails? Ones that are small?
I ask because I keep snails as pets (sort of an invertebrate keeping hobby)
I have two different species of adult giant african land snails, and a group of helix aspersa maxima (they're like garden snails but larger)
And these snails BREED, and lay a ton of eggs. Obviously it would be irresponsible to hatch them, since they lay hundreds- so most people would crush the eggs and feed back or freeze and chuck them out.
I was just wondering if I could feed the snail eggs to my ducks?? I figure if they like eating small snails, they'll probably eat the eggs happily? The shells would be quite rich in calcium, and my ducks are just over 3 months old, both hens.
Good idea, or should I stick to freezing them?
Photo just for fun!

My chickens love to eat snails, among other out door snacks! As you mentioned, they will be getting calcium and protein, so a healthy treat. It seems like a great answer to your problem. Keep us posted on how it works for you, please.

I dont know about snail eggs but if you have Mcdonnalds around, you can contact them and ask if you can come by to collect their discarded eggshells. I did that with a Mcdonnalds a block from my house they provided my ducks with enough eggshells that lasted for weeks on just one day's worth of eggs they use in their mcmuffins. Another great source of calcium too is broccoli, boil it up and chop it into small pieces, your ducks will love it, chia seeds are also super rich in calcium.

Thanks for the tips!

So! Recently the achatina snails laid 6 eggs, and I was very excited to let the ducks try them- they LOVED them. Dougie liked them best, she crushed them in her bill and gobbled them all down.
Definitely seems like a great treat for them, and saves me the worry of disposing of them!
