I know the brahma breed is slow to mature. My cockeral didn't start mating until 8 months old or so. At what age do the pullets begin to lay? Are they much later than the average of about 22 weeks for other heritage breeds?

IMO, some of it depends on whether they are breeder stock or hatchery stock. The hatchery ones tend to be less to the standard and more geared towards egg production.
My first brahma girl to lay did so @ 19 weeks. The last two of the flock didn't start until they were 9 1/2 months old. All hatchery stock.

I think my light brahmas started... can their eggs be light goldenish off white.

Its sort of an "off white/gold" I have RIR, red stars, BO, BR and want to know who makes this color? (Also, marins and jersey giants and EE and leghorns but this would not be their eggs....)

Yes I KNOW about hendersons chart.... but I still do not know the breed for sure that makes this color

I have recently changed over to exclusively light brahma chickens. I need to keep the whole production small because I'm getting tired. I got one by mistake and fell in love with their personality. I have 7 hens and one rooster. I read someplace I believe from chillin with my peeps that I won't be sorry having light brahmas and that they live a long time and lay for many years. I've been a little impatient as I've always had leghorns before but finally have been able to have a rooster and want to let nature do her work having the hens raise the chicks. My original question was at what age can I expect them to be laying full sized eggs? Although they are all laying the eggs are quite small and I was told the eggs will be quite large. Basically I'm very ignorant about the breed and would like all information about them you can impart. I'm thrilled to finally have dual purpose birds that I can let do things the way nature intended.
