First egg confusion

I know you all probably see tons of these "First egg posts" and are probably getting sick of them.
I think my question is a little different though.

I got my first egg today.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not a negative feeling, but let's just say I stared at the round brown ball next to their waterer trying to figure out what it was for far too long. I think I'm still in a bit of shock.
I'm in strong disbelief that I actually sucessfully raised chickens to the point of laying eggs. Then came the, "omg, I'm going to have to check for these every day." Then I realized how many I will potentially have in a day, a week, and a month.

Is this normal?

Well, as it happens when I have just about completely given up hope, I just smile like I have gotten a new toy, and fire up the frying pan.

Enjoy them. there are several aspects to this hobby, you just got to the second one. There are way more to try.
