I am starting a thread about the growing of my precious babies. They were raised until 3 weeks old by my mama hen Betty. She was the best hen ever she won prizes at fair and was an amazing mama. She protected her babies until the very end. I came home a few days ago and Betty was nowhere to be found. So now I and recording her babies growth. Introduction time, my favorite part! Pumpkin is the oldest she is a purebred RIR whose egg I gave to Betty to hatch. Bigbird is the next oldest chick she hatched 5 days after Pumpkin, she has caramel colored adult feathers coming in with some streaking of black and her feet are turning white. Public Nuisance, Tom, and Toastie were born 6 days after Pumpkin, 1 day after Bigbird. Public Nuisance has a darker head and she is possibly a RIR/Barred Rock Cross but she could also be a RIR. She appears to have barred patterns on her adult feathers. Tom has a darker head and looks just like a RIR baby, she was also a RIR egg I gave her mama. Toastie has caramel adult feathers with black streaking as well and white legs. I will get pictures soon of the chicks and their living spaces soon. Feel free to read and comment. I want to know what I am doing right or wrong!
