We leave most of our birds on the compost pile if they pass. Some are buried (or left somewhere more proper if its too frozen to dig), but most aren't.

I think males like the feeling of their wattles being rubbed gently. I have a few Cochin males that will stand still and let me do. They're near the bottom of the totem though, so they might just know to put up with it

I was going to say that maybe when a bird is feeling ill, they seem to not veiw them as a threat so much? Like they're fine with the ill birds because they won't be doing anything harmful. I've seen a few posts mentioning ISAs have temperament issues
