Mine all do love carrots, whole and raw, grated or chopped up and raw or cooked or even made into Moro's carrot soup.
But they start eating carrots from the early age of two weeks and that might make all the difference.
In case C mentions or even complains about a decrease in egg production, this would be the moment for you @Shadrach to convince her, that with the right kind and amount of chicken feed the production will go up and be steady. 😇
Sadly, this is exactly what is happing in most of the cases.
Here in Germany the people running these industrial battery farms found a cheap and clever way to get rid of the abused and sick creatures and on top getting paid for them instead of having to pay a company to get them removed...
Yes, it does. But it might take a little longer to inspire them in winter due to the lack of sun/day light.
If you know your broodies and know which is the favourite nest box, you can prepare them with the fake eggs and they should readily go for it.
I found that they go broody more easily...
Obviously, I am not Shad, but what I do is leaving eggs in the nest boxes, at least 7-9. And sure enough after a few days one of my reliable hens will take pity on them and start to warm the "poor orphans". (I mostly use wooden fake eggs.)
