We have another batch of turkeys hatching right now. There were 8 eggs at the start. One was not fertile, 1 died around day 7, 2 are mysteries that we think one might have died a few days before lockdown or was never fertile, and the other was moving before but has stopped and we are afraid died. Of the 4 left, 2 hatched with little to no difficulty. After a day of no results from the other 2, I made a safety hole in the top. One of the remaining 2 pipped internally and then gave up and died. The last chick pipped internally and is chirping and squirming a bit. She is a day or two overdue now and we are considering assisting the hatch.
The only problem is, she has not absorbed the blood in the vessels around the membrane yet. When I made the safety hole, I accidentally slightly slit the membrane and it bled a little. I am afraid to help in fear she might bleed more from assisting, but she is overdue.
