Unknown parent, veins but no visible embryo

Hi Everyone,
so today is day 10/11, I can see veins, but no embryo? Today when I candled I thought I saw movement (move) away from the light source, could the embryo be hiding? It’s a white egg so I can see pretty clearly in. I had looked at day 8 and the veins have certainly spread since. Also any ideas on what it could actually be? It was an egg we found well and truly abandoned on a river bank, the kids wanted to see if it would grow!

It sounds like a duck egg if it's day 10 and the embryo is moving away from the light, and small enough to not be obvious. A chicken egg you would definitely see the embryo at this stage.

As long as you can see veining it's still alive and growing.

I’m guessing it’s duck to, because of the fact I can’t see the embryo, I just saw a shift of movement, kind of like something deep down. And I did find it near the river, and it’s a smooth egg unlike obviously porous chicken eggs. It’s just strange as I’ve never seen a “hidden” embryo with any of the chickens I’ve incubated. Hopefully it keep growing..🤔

Have a look on YouTube for videos of people candling their duck eggs on day 10. You'll see how they embryo appears and disappears and I remember my Muscovy doing that. It's pretty much impossible to take a candling photo at that stage because they disappear. :lol:

Can someone help me i think my duck egg is on day 18 or 19 but when i flash a light theres no movement they are still veins but i do not see movement someone help me what am i doing wrong pls help

Hi, you may want to make your own thread, as this one is very old- do you know how to do that?
Can you share a couple photos of the egg being candled? It would help a lot.
Is the egg being automatically or manually turned?
