Hello, my family and I started our chicken journey this year and I was wondering if anyone with experience could verify the sex of our chicks and also tell me the breed of one of them. They are all a little over 5 weeks old.

First picture is a Rhode Island Red with the mystery chick next to it.

Second and third is an Easter Egger with the RIRs.

Fourth is RIR #2

Fifth is our two Barred Rocks

Six and Seven is our Sapphire Gem

And picture eight is mystery on the left. He was in the sapphire gem box but he seems to be a different breed and is a lot smaller than the rest. I can provide more pictures if needed.

Thanks for looking!

It's a bit early to tell, but here's my guesses based on where we are at with them:
(Image numbers)
1. Possible pullet
2. Likely pullet based on feather colouring/pattern
5. Two barred rocks, likely Cockerels
7. Grey with very pink comb, most likely a boy
Last image, white with black, could be a pullet.
As I said though, super early to tell. Give them all more time.

So far nothing screaming male. One of the barred rocks has a bit redder comb, but females can be precocious, so wait it out.

EE are female type colors thus far.

Not sure of breed on last. A lot of chicks look like that. My guess is another Sapphire as looks likely blue in color. Could be smaller as might be a couple of days younger if you got it out of a bin.

Nothing definitely saying rooster probably too early to tell give it a few weeks don’t worry about it too much though I’ve had rooster scares before and they turned out to be female in the end.
As for your mystery chick I’d say still sapphire gem. Just younger than your other.
Heres a photo of my sapphire gem when she was about the same age.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m hoping we still get mostly hens. I at least have some people in my town that would take roosters, so worst case they’d still get a home.
