Bought this sweet hen and was told she was a satin silkie… but after looking at her, she only has 4 toes and has pale skin. Her feathers are soft, but she only has that silkie fuzz on her bum. Don’t really care what she is as I love her anyway, but I sure am curious! Any guesses?

A true Satin has all the Silkie traits, except the Silkied feathers.

So, Crest, Walnut comb, 5 toes, Black Skin, Blue Earlobes, Beard, & Feathered legs.

She lacks the Black Skin, & 5 toes, so she's either a project bird, or just a mixed breed.

(Note: Pure Silkies can occasionally have Single combs, & 4 toes. Single comb is recessive, & can be hidden. 4 toes is the result of not inheriting the Polydactly gene)

That’s what I figured! I was like, there is nothing silkie about this bird. 🤣 Perhaps somewhere down the line she has some silkie… Thank you for clarifying!
