Exactly. You're not wasting anything by caponizing, you're preventing future strife in the flock and improving the flavor and texture of your meat.
I've heard that capons are actually really sweet, and while I loved my roos, I'd rather not have to deal with such drama kings in the future.

Not really, they don't want extra cockerels and checking by opening the body cavity is a surefire way to tell genders. Having an extra cockerel could just result in extra trauma for the pullets who have to endure overbreeding...
