My son has his own group of chickens at the base of a Honey Locust Tree. A perimeter is formed by four sheep panels. Broody hens with chicks are confined to rabbit pens with the perimeter and in the shade. The broods are released in the evening to forage before going to roost. Initially my son placed all birds back into respective pens at night although over last few nights on hen and her brood were allowed to roost on her pen. Something took one of the chicks last night. This evening the hen took her brood to roost in high weeds outside the perimeter. That makes me think owl. Now all penned up again. Time to whip out the game camera.
