Pekin with bumblefoot

I was given a Pekin girl today with scabs all over the bottoms of her feet. A friend rescued ducks from an neglectful situation, and now she’s here. The scabs don’t seem very swollen, but they do smell awful.

I have amoxicillin on hand (from our vet, it was for another pekin who didn’t need it, so I know dosage etc is right.) Will that, plus clean feet, plus vetericyn spray -typically- be enough to prevent having to do surgery? I really don’t want to have to put this girl through that.

If she has bumble foot, use Epsom salts to soak her feet in, make sure she's not walking on hard ground, she had a very clean surface to walk on, ( maybe even keeping her inside or away from being in a muddy or dirty area ) her foot is wrapped, you have the medicine, and if it gets worse, you might have or have someone do surgery to drain / clean / and wrap her up so it can heal. Do you have any pictures? It might prevent bumble foot but it also might not be enough, depending on the stage of the infection.

I don’t have pictures yet, I need an extra pair of hands for pictures and wrapping her feet. B

She’s in my bathtub, should I put down anything soft in there for her? I was thinking towels but they’ll get so wet with poop that I don’t know if that’s any good.

Thoughts on creative ways to soak her feet with Epsom salts that won’t let her drink the water?

Be careful with the bathtub if there's no plastic cover to prevent slipping made specially for tubs. Something like - ( Bath Tub None Slip Mat ) With the salts, you should get the plain - none scented salts and that won't hurt her, unless you leave her in there too long with more salt than needed, then it might make her stomach upset

Here is one of her feet, I couldn’t get her to calm down for the other one. They each have a big scab in the same place. But, neither feel warm or firm around the scab, and I don’t think there’s any swelling. She’s been on antibiotics for 24 hours. And now that she’s had a bath the disgusting smell is gone, I think maybe it wasn’t related to the feet. I’m open to any thoughts or advice :)

Oh and I got her a grippy tub mat too!

That definitely looks like bumble foot. It's already spread and gotten large so I think it'll have to be surgically removed. If you have a vet that can remove and drain it, that's what you probably have to get to treat it. If you don't, you can do it yourself at home!
