I have a female silkie x Mille Fleur d'uccle bantam ... i noticed she tried to crow occasionally ...when i lost my only rooster to predators, this "hen" started to crow. and hasn't stopped yet after 8 months. She, i say, crows every morning and sometimes during the day - but there's no mating at all. The main reason i'm writing is another d'uccle hen, that lays eggs, started crowing today a few times.

what's up with the females crowing? is that normal? or is this a d'uccle trait?
thanks

that's awesome...! I wonder if d'uccle are more prone to this...?
It's normal! Some female chickens will begin to crow and exhibit other "male" behaviors, especially when there isn't a rooster around! They usually aren't very good at it though 😅 but I wouldn't worry!
yea i figured so .... but wanted to make a post :)
