what kind of goose should I get?

Hi all,
I am hoping to get a goose to keep with our chickens and ducks to act as a sort of guardian. I want something that will help protect the flock, but that I won't be terrified of (lol) Any ideas on what kind to get?
I am facinated also by Murray McMurray's weeding geese, which it states might be hybrid. Has anyone ordered these or know what kind of hybrid they are?

Pilgrim Geese are generally considered the best pets. I had better experience with my Africans. Whatever kind you get, need to be handled a lot as goslings to not get too aggressive with people.
I am not sure what you think they will be guardian against though. My were in the same pen as my chickens and ducks a couple times when coons or something got in, and they only managed to protect themselves, nothing else. They don't have any means of keeping away most predators.

I am fascinated by the Weeders too; anything that will help me weed the garden is my friend!!! Let us know what you decide, because I would love to get an area fenced for them to work in the garden safely. I love the ones that look like they are tall and lithe (probably because I am short and dumpy) and they don't waddle, can't think of their names right now . . .but they are so classy!! I do know they poop alot, and have been told NOT to let them up around your house or where you walk alot . . .but, I have all kinds of critters, and every single on of them are poopers.

I have a chinese gander, and though he is getting increasingly evil, and wants to bite me all the time, he is small enough, that I can sort of push him away, or spin him around, or grab his neck (carefully) to prevent biting. He's wicked evil, and scares away my LGD (yeah right... dang dog), my children, and my DH, He also manages to keep away everything else (including foxes).

I have 2 Toulouse ganders that I leave out 24/7 during the spring and summer. They help keep the hawks away, and the coons dont bother the geese.

This is all good food for thought, but I still can't decide which breed to get. LOL. They all seem wonderful. . .
I was trying to decide between a white chinese (for the noise making) and an emden (for the size) and then I saw that Africans were a cross between toulouse and chinese, which made me go, hmmm, maybe that's the kind I want. .. Oh my gosh, I am so hopeless. I am one of the "one of every kind" people, so chickens (and ducks and geese) are like the worse thing for me to get into!
I am also considering a white chinese crossed with an Emden, as I found some eggs for sale, and that sounds exactly what I am looking for!
Any thoughts?
