Blue egg layers in China

Hi, guys. In BYC, I would like to introduce some Chinese breeds of blue eggs, which come from the central, southwestern, southern and so on. Some of them can be seen in every province of China.

①DongXiang blue egg layer
Dongxiang chicken from Dongxiang of Jiangxi Province, In fact, at first, there were many colors in Dongxiang, but almost all of them were black bone chickens.

After more than 10 years of breeding. They were transformed into black feathers, black skin, black feet, black bones, black meat, and black viscera. So they have another name called "Five Black One Green Eggs" (China calls blue eggs green eggs). They lay eggs in 170-180 days. They give lay to 140-160 beautiful blue eggs every year. They are very similar to Ayam Cemani, but they are not as dark as Ayam Cemani.

Later, in order to get more eggs, people made Dongxiang of partridge and Dongxiang of black red combs. They can produce about 200 eggs a year.
They can lay eggs close to 100% of the blue eggs.

Next, none of the local breeds have been selected to specialize in blue eggs. Usually they lay pink and blue eggs at the same time.

②LuShi chickens
Lushi chicken comes from Lushi County, Henan Province, central China. It is suitable for mountain chicken breeding. Lushi chickens are lightweight and thin. Because they have not been specially selected, their feathers are very colorful. They lay eggs in 170 days. They lay 110-120 eggs a year. They weigh 47 grams. They lay very few eggs. The ratio of blue eggs is about 30-40%. So few people feed them.

③QueShan chicken
QueShan chickens originated from Bian Que's hometown (Bian Que is a magical doctor in ancient China) and live in Neiqiu County, Hebei Province. In history, QueShan is a hybrid of Bian Que's pheasant and domestic chicken.

They are very adaptable to mountain life, adapt to the cold, and are very good at flying.

The history of QueShan culture can be traced back to 2000 years ago. At that time, Bian Que was domesticated on a high mountain. It selected local pheasants and fed them with traditional Chinese medicine plants. Ancient people believed that these chicken and eggs could cure diseases.

Combs mainly consist of single comb, accounting for about 90%. Bean comb and rose comb are few, and some have crown feathers and beard.

The hen lays eggs on average 198 days. An average of 100 eggs per year, many can reach 200, the average egg weight is 43g. The egg color is light brown, white or blue.
