I like Bantam chickens since they pack a lot of punch into a small package. One thing I find myself often looking up is what size is a certain bantam breed's egg. To that end I decided we should have a thread to post our Bantam Egg sizes. Please cut and post the egg weights before yours so that hopefully by the end of this thread we can have a nice compilation of bantam egg sizes...I'll go first

I have a gorgeous splash orpington bantam, and her eggs are impressive for her size, and she lays as much as 5 times a week, too. but the best is her character, she loved being around us and just sit on the table and preen while we work.

I have one almost 6-month old bantam frizzled Cochin that has started laying eggs a week or two ago. She is laying a surprising number of eggs and they seem very large for her tiny size. They are around 30 grams. This morning I found an egg that might have been hers that weighed 34 grams. If not her egg, it was from one of the Silkies (same age) that also lay eggs around the 30 gram mark. My (supposedly) LF Polish pullets from a hathcery lay eggs the same size. All are the same age, hatch date mid March. All from McMurry Hatchery. (An ounce is about 28.4 grams.)

Yesterday another Silkie started laying. A teeny tiny 18g egg! All my Silkie and bantam Cochin eggs are brown to pale tan, almost pink. One Silkie layed a speckled egg.

How does everyone know which chicken laid which egg? These are the firs chickens I've ever had and they are a few days shy of six months old.

I went on vacation, and when I got back a bantam easter egger had just started laying! (possibly more than one, but hard to say if they are from the same or different chickens).
