How old was your oldest egg that hatched?

We've had a 70% hatch on 16 day old eggs.

Many species of birds will hold their eggs until they have enough to set, sometimes well over 30 days, and no incubation in that period.

I have 160 eggs in the incubator right now, anywhere from 7-21 days old. I won't post about it, but feel free to bug me in about 2-3 weeks and I will let you know the outcome.

Someone told me hens usually lay every other day for him up to about 15 eggs before they go broody. In other words, the first egg is 30 days old and he said the hen still hatches them out. I usually just set eggs no more than 8 days old. Hopefully they all hatch

Most of my game hens lay a single egg every day from onset for a given clutch. Number of eggs varies from 4 to 23. The higher number gives good hatch so long as temperature before onset of broodiness is not too extreme.

For a range of reasons I prefer clutch size not exceed 14 eggs with 10 to 12 preferred. More at start increases odds a dud will take others down with it. Also rearing larger broods / attempting does not result in more juveniles.
