Okay, the old guy will go first. I was born into a poultry raising family and have had feathered creatures for most of my life. For me it started at 3 years old with an imprinted Pekin drake - Donald, yeah original, but I was 3. My luckiest move was meeting and marrying the Princess 56 + years ago. If it has feathers I may very well have had/raised it at one time. My all time favorites are leghorn chickens and Birmingham Rollers. Cooper's hawks were devastating my flocks and since we planned a 3 week trip for our 50th anniversary I gave all of my birds away. I miss them daily. My present 'flock' consists of the Princess, 11 beagles, and Scaredy Cat a feral that has adopted me. Pictures ? you'll have to go to my BYC interview for that as I am a technoilliterate and barely able to access anything. I tend to be somewhat blunt and always advocate for the animals. That seems to offend some, but that's not my intent. I hope that your BYC journey will be as enjoyable as mine.

Ooops, Kiki just beat me.

Hi, my name is Krista but everyone calls me FC or FortCluck or Fort. We have a small flock that consists of chickens and ducks.

We have 2 roosters; a black jersey giant named Squatch and a silver sebright named HeiHei. We have tons of pullets and hens. Here are the hens and pullets I can name some aren't named yet; Ophelia- barred rock, Dolly- red sex link, Ginger- red sex link, Chicken little- white Cochin, Pants- black Cochin, Mama Chicken- Delaware, Spook- Delaware black jersey giant mix, and Wednesday- Delaware black jersey giant mix.

I have been incubating my own eggs from my flock to try to get certain colors and traits in my flock. I'm a complete lover of barnyard mixes so that's what I'm always incubating. We have 17 chicks right now that we just hatched. I call them the HeiHei Special because this is his first offspring that I've hatched.

We also have ducks. I have a chocolate muscovy named Coco. Then we have 3 Pekin ducks 2 hens and 1 drake named Pickles, quackers, and cheese.

We also have 4 dogs. Jolene- Chihuahua, jack russel, poodle, and Yorkie mix. Molly- pug beagle mix. Lucy- beagle. Anabelle- red nose pit lab mix. All of our dogs are rescues. We also have a feral cat named Jack we were given for Christmas from a vet who trapped him in a barn. He thinks he's a dog 😁

We moved from New England to Virginia to the country. Everyone was telling us how we needed chickens and we didn't understand it until we got our first chicks. From that point on we have been chicken and duck addicts.

We sell our chicks when we have extras and we also incubate eggs for friends because they say we have the incubator touch 😁

Welcome to BYC! My name is Jessi, and I'm from the mountains of SW Virginia! I LOVE raising my mixed flock of chickens, ducks, and geese! We also share our home with 2 dogs and 1 cat! I'm a crazy animal lady through and through!

There's not much free time to speak of, my husband and I have 3 BOYS!! Oldest is 15 and youngest is 8! They each have their own activities going on all the time, so we keep the roads hot! The boys have really surprised me with how much they've been willing to help with our birds.

Used to teach Pre K, but I've been blessed with the opportunity to stay home and I'm loving every minute of it!
I do help my husband quite a bit with our landscape business, mostly planting and maintaining gardens and annual arrangements! My specialty is container gardening!

We also enjoy camping, beaching, fishing, good food, and family!

I've found a wonderful support system here at BYC, and I hope you will too!

I go by many names, Coffee Breath being the most accurate. I was raised a combination city and suburban girl, and hated all birds.
I currently have: one beagle, eleven chickens, five Coturnix quail, and a few hermit crabs. I have a 5-tear-old Duckling that has been in charge of collecting eggs since shortly after she learned to walk. :D She is presently fond of saying, “I want chicken nuggets, let’s go kill a chicken.”
My entire flock of ducks were wiped out last summer, and I stopped raising turkeys a few years ago. We had Mourning Doves hatch in the coop, and the parents were okay with being handled, so we called them pets for a while. Cool birds.

Hello there, my name is Leyla. I have been keeping poultry on and off all my life having grown up on a farm with goats, horses and poultry. I have always been bird obsessed, wild and domestic, if it has feathers, I am in love. :love My bird passions for domestic birds have been Quail and Chickens, the Quail caused huge hatching obsessions and it got so addictive I had to force myself to pack away the incubators to save my sanity. Parrots have been a huge thing in my life as well and I kept them for a few decades, Lovebirds and Cocketiels.

Right now I am birdless  I let the last of my flocks pass on naturally these past years. The only animal companion at this time is an 11 year old Maltese dog with congestive heart failure. :( The hubby and I are working on getting the house ready to be put up for sale in the spring and moving a managerie of birds is too much for my old self. :old

Update: I now have a house chicken named Henny Penny! She's 10 1/2 yrs old, loves to be around people and enjoys snuggling! Pics coming soon!

Hello, my name is Tonya. (Yes, I DID spell that right!)

I grew up around animals and my first experience with poultry was a flock of Muscovy ducks. My mom had the bright idea to give each of us 4 kids a ducking for Easter instead of candy. Those 4 ducklings, Barny, Betty, Wilma and Fred, dropped to 3 when Fred started attacking all bi-peds and he was dressed for dinner by my childhood horse riding instructor. Over the years, the population exploded. Dad regularly took drakes to the County auction to sell.

My first true love was horses and I competed in the NYS Fair at age 9 and won third place in the two classes I entered. I lost my own horse in 2006 when she was 31. We competed in Western classes until she was 28, a year after she had gone completely blind.

Almost 24 years ago I met my first Doberman and have been hooked on the breed ever since. I've rescued 6 to date, the most recent being Bella, an unwanted girl because she could no longer produce puppies for her former owner. She claimed ownership of my cat as soon as she laid eyes on her.

I flipped houses for nearly 6 years and am addicted to renovating and building.

I became Paleo 2 years ago which led me down the path to owning chickens. My flock has been a source of joy through many difficult times and will continue to be for many years to come... hopefully without all the difficulties!

I hope you enjoy this site and all that it has to offer as much as I do!
