Hi and welcome to BYC We're so happy you've decided to join us
She is not quite a yearAfter two days, I wouldn't think it was the heat. How old is it? I'd put her down since she doesn't seem to get better?
I noticed that you made a thread in the Emergency forum. You can get more, and better responses if you copy and paste your original post from this thread. She is not quite a year
She is not getting worse but doesn't want to open her eyes and misses the bowl to eat . Have been feeding her the regular chicken food soaked in garlic water and electrolytes. She has opened her eyes more today but still acts like she is dozing off!She is not quite a year
It's really weird she doesn't have the symptoms of worms or infection her comb is normal but her eyes look a little cloudy and she doesn't seem to be able to see. I have been giving her antibiotics and a worm medicine and will see how that works... still force feeding with soaked food and water.Welcome to BYC!
Can you post a picture of your hen?
If I have one overheat (usually after egg laying) I take her inside and put cool wet rags over her feet and under the wings. I don't put her back out until dark. And I watch them closely on hot days, from then on.
Electrolytes every day, can be too much of a good thing. Always make sure you have fresh, clear water available. Cool not cold.
And as @sourland says once you (or a chicken) have a heat event you will always be more susceptible to heat than others.
The symptoms of heat events are described by @BlueBaby I'd like to add pale comb and face, as well as pale skin inside the mouth.
You may be dealing with Mareks. It's really weird she doesn't have the symptoms of worms or infection her comb is normal but her eyes look a little cloudy and she doesn't seem to be able to see.
