If you have a duckling that *needs* it, you won’t get enough in via drinking water.

It should go in the food, really. I would put 1cc per duckling into an amount of food they’re going to eat today, and do that again at night. Twice a day. The others will poop out the excess vitamins. Do this for a day or two. Then direct dose just the one who needs it.

Do they have any treats they take? If so get a syringe with needle and inject 1cc into the treat. Otherwise slowly drop 1cc by drop onto their beak. 1cc is not a whole lot, do it drop by drop so you don’t aspirate them. :)
There is 1 duck I do want to give extra to. And I've read alot on peas being great treats, but I don't have any fresh, only canned, can I give her those until I get to tsc and get some mealworms?

Thank you so much, can I give them canned peas? Or do they need to be fresh

The one thing I wonder about with canned peas is whether there are additives like sodium - you might not want that. Do you have access to frozen peas? That's what I use, and you can easily thaw them under some warm water. Tiny bits of watermelon can also soak up the vitamin B and might work. Just make sure the ducklings have access to chick grit once they start getting treats like that. I do add it to my ducklings water once a day, just to give them a little extra, and they drink that water the same as they do their regular water, but some might be particular. And like others have already stated, if you have a duckling in trouble you need to really find a method to make sure that one is getting the full dosage.

Thank you! That's why I asked about the peas. I don't want to give them that much sodium. I'll just wait till this Evening when I can grab them some meal worms. Typically I do have frozen peas on hand. I just need to go shopping lol. What I ended up doing is sticking the b complex for all of them in their drinking water. But, when I get the meal worms, I will give them all treats but will add a little extra b complex to the treats I give to the one I'm really worried about. Thank you so much for the input

I wouldn't put it in their drinking water, they likely won't drink it---the taste isn't something they like. They'll end up ignoring the water altogether, which isn't what you want. I suggest making a couple more waterers as well.
Thank you! I don't have enough room in their tub atm, they're still under a heat lamp. But luckily they do seem to be drinking it ok. I'm still going to give the one ducklingthat I'm worried about a little extra on some treats. When I switch them to their coop/ run I'll probably get a cpl more waterers. I really like the feeder waterers I have bc they're on legs are hardly any water or food is wasted. Thank you for the reply! :)

I have a 1wk old Gosling with a little flock of 5wk old chicks (mixed breeds.) If we add the nutritional yeast to the feed, is it safe for the chickens if they get to it as well? Or is the higher levels of Niacin toxic for them?

No.
B vitamins have to be given at relatively high amounts to cause issues.

Hi! Great article!! I have a little duckling with joint issues she’s 6 days old and I’m hoping to help her out by adding a bit more niacin to her diet. However I’m in Canada and I cannot find any of the niacin options listed in Canada. Does anyone have any recommendations for niacin options that are available on Amazon.ca?
