My light brahmas started laying at 7months old. They did good as I learned and had them brood and raise 2 "batches" of chicks. My question now is how long do they lay? They were giving eggs really good then this spring they all got broody and I blamed my egg production reduction on that. Then it was horribly hot. Some were molting a little. Now it's been 5 months since any of the hens have been working as a mamma. I have 7 hens and I'm getting only 1-2 eggs a day? They aren't that old, 1 1/2 years old. Even leghorns I have had usually layed for 2-2 1/2 years for me. Out of desperation I penned them all in the coop and made some makeshift coops that gave them lots of privacy. I still only got 2 eggs. I'm giving them good lay pellets. No corn. They have almost an acre to forage in. After my experiment of cooping them up I know for sure nothing is stealing the eggs. There were no signs of it. Suggestions? I should definitely be getting more than 2 eggs from 7 hens correct? Oh by the way yes they have light on in the coop for 10 hours a day so lack of light isn't the issue either. They layed just fine during the winter last year???

I think my light brahmas started... can their eggs be light goldenish off white.

Its sort of an "off white/gold" I have RIR, red stars, BO, BR and want to know who makes this color? (Also, marins and jersey giants and EE and leghorns but this would not be their eggs....)

Yes I KNOW about hendersons chart.... but I still do not know the breed for sure that makes this color
