She must have been incredibly tough to have survived all this time sick as she was. Goodbye, sweet Bailey :hugs
God bless you for being such a good friend, Mary. From what I've observed, overall very strong and healthy birds seem to be able to hang on for a very long time, even when something goes wrong inside. I'm going to miss her. She was so different from the others, not the same conformation, not as large, lost all the lacing she had originally as she went through every yearly molt, though it wasn't much to begin with; not sure what was up with that, but she was unique in the group. If you recall, she was the one who was almost scalped as a young pullet when young brothers Bash and Bruno were competing for the girls and we had to put a stitch to keep the sides of the wound together as it healed and keep her away from those rowdy boys.

Got a Brahma egg for the first time in at least six months. I think it's Cora's. She's been going on the nest for days and not laying anything. Maybe it took a bit to get the factory back into production.
Brandy, my best Partridge girl as well as best broody in that group, has a neck issue. Back when I first went to the pen to sit with my birds after I broke my leg, she had her neck hunched up, but I figured she was cold because she was molting badly and almost naked. It has never gotten better. Now her feathers are all grown back in, but her neck is hunched and almost twisted to one side. Makes me wonder if she was hurt by Bash during the time I was stuck in bed. And I can't manipulate the neck much because I could kill her. They are so delicate in that area.

My kids are getting up in years. Bash, Brandy, BJ, Betsy and Bonnie will be 6 yrs old in June and I think Cora is just one year behind, since she is Bash's daughter, would have to check that. ETA: Yes, Cora just turned 5 years old. She grew up with the dwarf Barred Rock, Pooh Bear, so I found those videos.

@ColtHandorf Good luck with your hatch! I haven't hatched in awhile. When I do, it won't be Brahmas, though. I'm not keeping the huge birds any longer. Going to a mixed flock of smaller bodied breeds at this point in our lives, though this group of hatchery EEs and bantam Cochins are the craziest birds I've ever had, especially the EEs. They do lay gorgeous eggs, though. I think Cackle must have bred their Ameraucanas with EEs because I have a couple that I could swear would pass muster as true Ameraucanas and lay nice blue eggs.

I just read through this entire thread and wow! You have had quite the adventure with this little group of brahmas. I'm so sorry about Bailey, at least you gave her a fullfilling and happy life. I've never owned brahmas but they sound like wonderful birds.

EE's/Green Queens are my favorite "breed" of chickens! Can't go wrong with the mixes. Do you have any pictures of them?
