Help! The birds many of you id'd as roosters are still not crowing. Not a bad thing. Just hopeful they're some weird giant hybrid hens. They all move around comfortably. No eggs. No crowing. I expect the no egg part. They were pretty traumatized. How long do y'all think it will be before thwy crow?

They now finished a 5day course of safeguard. They are perky. Curious. They roost very close together. Almost on top of each other. Still searching for a home. I am willing to travel to place them in a good home.
I would so take a few, but being in Illinois, it will be hard to do. I really hope you can find someone to take a few!

Probably belong to the same people they were taken from. They have rituals regularly and raise them. I feel sorry for the hens.
Doubtful, in this case. From the news clip it looks like they live in a small rundown apartment building. Didn't even look like it had a yard or garden area. In this area there are a number of people who do this. It is horrible.

Update! Birds are mostly doing great. Their combs are getting red. Since we'll eat from my hand now. The two big birds are the friendliest.

Unfortunately, one of them is struggling. See last few photos. It's walking with a bad limp. Doesn't walk a lot. The other bird sits with it most of the day. If a stranger approaches it her defensive of the injured bird. Very heart-warming behavior.

Hoping the slow recovery continues.

They are very beautiful and seem they were very well cared for. I would check with local vets and with feed stores. They were not raised to be sold for food, so likely stolen. Check with police departments sometimes things don't get communicated between one county and another, so those police you spoke with may not have known about the other report.

Wish I could help, I am in Canada, very far from from you. (Sadly)

Have you considered pain medication for the limping one? Maybe some aspirin would help.
