What can I put in my 5 gallon water to keep the algae out. I only have 9 chickens with it so it takes them a few days for them to finish it and it gets really gross inside

Make sure its got a lid and that its not clear. UV light speeds algae growth, so blocking it will slow things down. You can also chlorinate if you are on well water, but nothing stops it completely (as demonstrated by green, heavily chlorinated, pools)
It's got a lid and is opaque so you can see the water level. I was thinking maybe acv might help?

My EE/silkie cross attacked my broody silkie yesterday, thankfully she's not injured but she did lose four Wing feathers from the incident. This is the last straw I am definitely going to move her into the 2nd coop once the 2 grow outs are out of there and get some chicks for her. I'm contemplating giving that ee cross back to the lady I got her from who can free range her on 2 Acres. I love her eggs though and her lavender colored earlobes so I may keep her. Just take the broody out and put her in the 2nd coop with some three or four week old chicks. Then that will be my banty/grow out coop. I love my little Rosie so much and she is so meek the other take advantage of that
