So when I see that they are trying to get out of the egg do I pull the egg out and set it on some paper towel and under a heat lamp? It's my first time hatching so I'm a little concerned.
No leave them in the incubator and keep the lid closed. They need the humidity to hatch

On day 28 do I need to be close by so I can watch and see if it peeps or anything? I’ve heard they hatch sometimes at weird times. Thank you
They will generally hatch all on their own. I stay close and watch them cuz I think it is fun. I do not open the lid unless necessary as the loss of moisture can shrink wrap the chicks.

I have 7 silkies and 12 assorted other chicken eggs that I set. The incubator has been working fine until today and then today the temp. Dropped to 78. I'm not sure for how long the temp was down but I had looked earlier in the day and the temp. was fine. I immediately moved the eggs into the other incubator. The eggs were defiantly cooler. I candled them and they seem ok but I did not see allot of movement. They are on day 8 of incubation. Do you think any will hatch? I'm super sad because they were doing so well.

I've been though this before. Stick with it. They're bound to be just fine. My first eggs were given to a brooding hen. One day she left the eggs for several hours and still ten of the twelve fully developed.

I had my broody switch nests and I had no idea how long they had been left un attended definitely over night and not in a nice insulated incubator.... and they hatched just fine. So they should be okay!
