When it rains it pours. Now one of my quail hens is looking off. She just sits there with her head between her feet. I wonder what's up? Sighs.

Did manage to work on the eagle head painting yesterday eve. Still have to tackle the beak and eye, but it's looking not too bad :) .

WELL, the second batch of quail eggs are a bust as no eggs hatched on my second attempt. I'll likely keep the incubator and use it as a brooder and save up for another incubator. Anyone have luck with another brand of small incubator? I don't want to do more than 12 eggs at a time. I've heard good things about the Janoel12.

I love the incubator I use but it is for chicken eggs. It is not name brand but I usually have a 60% - 70% hatch rate with it. I bought it on eBay. I can go try to find it and get a link.

This is what I have. The tray is WAY too big for quail eggs, but I tried to hatch a wild bird egg and it sat quite well in the small holes at the bottom of each compartment. For chickens, at lockdown, or day 18, I take the tray out. There is a little yellow piece that makes the tray turn, I take that out too. If you dont it can catch chicks heads and kill them. Then you put the eggs on the botom beneath the tray. You just add water through a hole at the top. I know I should, but I do not have a second thermometer or hydrometer. Hope this helps!

I got commissioned to do a painting of a fellow and his now deceased service dog. His dog had quite the tumor on a foreleg and had to be put down, so this painting is going to be a surprise for him :) . The below image has been worked on more today, but this is the gist of what it looks like.

On other news - one of my two quail are showing signs of something neurological. She stands with her head down. The next day she's better. :hmm The next day she's unable to stand and is flapping as she tries to get up. The day after she's okay again. I don't get it!
