Got the 90% shade attached for the feeding area. I have a gravity feeder for the OS but it needs repairing first. It makes quite a difference.

The chickens have been enjoying leaves off the willow acacia. I move the chairs from time to time so they can reach more. The pool is working out great! The sides aren’t collapsing and they definitely use it in the afternoon. I have a plastic storage container that fits perfectly on the shelf in my small freezer to make a block of ice every day, then take it out around 1500; there’s still a chunk in the pool when I lock up at night.

The girls have decided they want to lay their eggs in the big coop so I moved the nest boxes in there. I’m going to hang the old waterer again since I never leave them without access to water. Here’s my plan for the nest boxes, but they need bottoms and one needs a couple slats on the top. I used old bandanas for curtains to make them feel more enclosed. They’ve been in them but not in this configuration yet.if this works I’ll find some cute material later.

So I’ve already changed my mind about the nest boxes. I don’t want to have to attach them to the interior of the coop so there are two for now, on blocks in the corner. The ground gets wet in that corner but Igor won’t move the roost so I can put them at the other end of the coop. I’m never happy with nest boxes, or my chickens aren’t and if they don’t use them then whatever. I’ll put down a bunch of straw in the corner and they can make due. If I attach them it’ll be a PITA to wash and sanitize the coop before I put on some fresh whitewash. Which must be done in fall.

Good job on keeping your flock cool. You guys get such crazy heat, I'm sure they appreciate it!

The SS girls are the two that seem to enjoy being up on things the most. The smallest of the two went from the waterer to the feeder

Three of the girls are on the chair munching leaves. One Nn on the back rail, one Nn on the seat and one SS on an arm. If the rooster wasn’t such a :rantI could have got better pics

Have been discussing the Nn roo with the kids. He was a random hatchling and grew up with a duck. The duck thinks the roosters are her friend but they attack her so might have the roo and two ducks instead of two more pullets. Thinking hard on that, still have some time. Here’s the possible additions
