I feel ya. It was bad enough that TSC took away the "lower price at your store". Then add in the 20-50 jumps almost weekly. It hurts.
Has anyone used layer pellets with supplements for chicks? Help appreciated.

Folly's place, i have 5 hens that are 14months old. I fed them chick starter until this past April at which time i lost a hen and felt maybe it was because of too much protein? I since switched to an all layer pellet. 16% protein. I am in CT, and this winter i get focused on upping their protein. In your opinion, would grabbing a bag of chick starter and mixing it with the layer feed be ok? Or, any other options to supplement for the cold weather? Thank you! I kept them on chick starter because i wanted them to have the higher protein, and all other feeds are 16% protein.
Chick starter is probably fine, you have to buy what's fresh and available where you shop. Here we can get Purina's Flock raiser, and we've been feeding that for decades.
