Weeding. Lots of weeding. It looks like the one female squash I hand-pollinated is growing, & another female flower should be open tomorrow! Pole beans are over my head, but no beans yet! Tomatoes still green…first cucumber looks like it’s developing!
There are specific “pickling” cukes, but you can pickle any. I usually try to grow 3-4 different varieties and I’ll pickle whatever I have the most of! I also cut them early if they are bigger, DD hates seedy cukes with a passion lol.

I just went to the local farmers market/farmstand and bought a bunch of heads the first year. I knew it would grow well in my area since other farmers were using it successfully. So I have no idea what kinds I have but they all grow well here.

I found in my last hatch the biggest indicator of hatching was not air cells or egg shape…the ones that didn’t hatch were the ones that lost the most weight. I had tiny round eggs hatch fine, a long skinny egg hatch fine, and wonky air cells hatch fine.
