Buff Orpingtons Chicken Breed Information Pictures

adorable article!
I love our Sonny! She's almost 6 months so we're hoping for some nice eggs from her. She's the sweetest and my favorite of our crew! 🥰

Love the pictures and the information on the breed. This is one of the BYC articles that helped me choose which breeds to start my flock with.

I have an a new chicken mama. We hatched 6 buff Orpington eggs, turns out they are 4 boys and two girls. They are now 17 weeks old. It was nice to read your article and see a glimpse of what I might expect. Thank you.

Nice article. I agree these are great birds, especially if you have young children or grandchildren. They are friendly birds and can even be a child’s pet. I have two roosters in with my flock and they are not aggressive to people or to each other — they are the most peaceable roosters I have ever had. Buffs will go broody on occasion, but not so frequently as to be troublesome. And their big, beautiful eggs are wonderful.

I love Buff Orpingtons, and My first chicks were BOs but I ended up with only one. She is 21 weeks old now, and I am waiting for that first egg!
I have a mixed flock now, of nine pullets, but she is my favorite. She is very friendly and sweet.

Very good! We’re newbies and have 4 buffs now at 40 days. Wonderful birds.
I really enjoy reading this article, as well as looking at all the pictures. I have one buff orpington pullet in my small flock, so I found this article looking for info on her breed. Since, I have read it a few times! It helps as little reminder of what to look for in my little buff.

Made me love my Orps even more.
Excellent article and I love the pictures of your girls and coop as well as it’s design and that of the run. I have three four week old Black and Lavender Orpingtons among a 9 member flock of all docile breeds of birds. The other two breeds are Swedish Flower Hens and Creme Legbars. The Orpingtons were our first choice and we wanted Buffs but the hatchery was all out due to the pandemic and would not have any available for several weeks. I waited a month to get the three Orpingtons which I could get so I took them with ease since the temperament was supposed to be the same. I believe their value is even a little higher monetarily but I won’t be selling or showing mine just spoiling them and trying to keep them as safe and in the best care that we can here at our home. We love all of the 9 already and none are mean at all or have given in to any mean or problematic behaviors. It seems as if they all are so sweet and love one another and me especially. They come when called and some fly right to me or step up into my hands. I never knew having chickens would be such a joy. They are some work but worth it. They are so enjoyable. I sure have enjoyed your page and I showed it to my husband and he agrees you have an awesome setup and group of nice cared for and beautiful hens.
Take care. Stay well and my best to you and your hens.

Terrific page! I am new to Buff Orpingtons. I have 3x Buffs and 3x Lavender Orps and they are all roughly five weeks old... miniature dinosaurs indeed!
Enjoyable article about raising Buff Orpington chickens
